family affair II - Ananda Nilayam and Kerala State Council for Child Welfare, Thiruvananthapuram

A family affair team of 16 members went to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala  and spent 11 days with the orphans at the above two orphanages with more than 180 children. Besides teaching the children art and craft (making wooden chairs, mobiles, book marks etc), they also imparted life skills like t-shirt painting and floral arrangement.
Values were inculcated – as in equality (e.g. boys sweeping the floor), being responsible for oneself, neatness, being tidy, and respecting the elders, to name a few. Also in the programme were outings to watch a movie (“Narnia”) and to the amusement park / planetarium for about 200 children.
